In this category, we have made the choice to regroup the Foursquare and Panel shapes. Did you know that these shapes were born thanks to defective pipes? Please read, because the story behind this is somehow surprising... During the process of pipe making, it may happen that imperfections appear: for example, a small crack in the briar, or a darker stain somewhere on the wood. It is during the process of correction of these imperfections that the first flat faces around the bowl (like those on the Foursquare and Panel pipes) have been used. This shape has then become aesthetic and has been democratized. The number of facets has also evolved, and nowadays we can find pipes with 4 or 6 flat faces. Note that when you look at the pipe from above, the bowl has a beautiful geometrical shape: we love it! The Panel is traditionnaly formed with a round shank, whereas the Foursquare has a square shank.
