A special box of matches for your pipe:

These matches will be perfect to light up your pipe. Indeed, they are longer than classic matches, and therefore burn slower. You will also have more time to light up your pipe, without ever risking burning your fingers!

Some smokers exclusively use these matches for their big bowl pipes. Indeed, when the pipe has gone out at the middle or at the bottom of the bowl, it is easier to ignite your tobacco with a match than with a lighter (which is even more true if you don not use a pipe lighter).

How to light up your pipe?

Approach the flame of the match to the surface of the tobacco while inhaling in the stem of your pipe. For the first ignition, the tobacco may slightly lift itself, and it is absolutely normal. You may therefore have to equalize the surface with your pipe tamper, then light it up a second time. The important thing to remember is to always present the flame to the whole surface of the tobacco (by doing a circular movement for example) in order to make the combustion homogenous.

With the habit, lighting up your pipe obviously becomes a formality. However, we advise you to always be careful when lighting up your pipe.
