As a child, Tom Eltang was already very interested in tobacco pipes. At the age of 16, he decided that this passion should become his career and to work in the pipe industry. He was an apprentice to a few Danish pipe-makers before deciding, in 1980 that it was time for him to start his own business. He set up his first workshop in a town near Copenhagen. His creations quickly became very sough-after pieces, by both smokers and collectors. Nowadays, he his recognized as one of the best pipe-makers. Tom's pipes are first and foremost meant to be loved by their final user. According to him, a pipe must be light, comfortable in the mouth and be able to stand on its own!
