A unique pipe made by Tommaso Spanu:
Tommaso Spanu (also known as Tom Spanu) is an Italian craftsman who designed his pipes in Sardinia. He created unusual pipes from raw material such as briar, olive wood, lemon wood or even cork!
Each of his creations is absolutely unique. Nothing is designed before he starts working the wood, and Tommaso Spanu has always prefered to let his imagination speak and has always worked the wood little by little depending on the shape and the colors of the materials. Nowadays, he is considered as one of the best craftsmen in the World thanks to the quality of his pipes and the design of the latter.
When briar and cork become one...
The Tom Spanu pipe presented here is made of briar and has the particularity to be covered with cork! The latter is a great thermal insulator. In addition to providing a very original finish, cork guarantees a pleasant pipe to hold in the hand. The combination of briar and cork required a long and delicate process from Tom Spanu. Of course, all this work is entirely handmade!
This half-bent model is mounted with a black acrylic stem. This stem is designed to be fitted with 9mm filters. The bowl is particularly deep, which means that you can enjoy your tobacco for a long period of time. As you can see on the pictures, this Tom Spanu pipe is presented in its cork tailored display, on which you can find the name of the famous brand.
