Tsuge Thunderstorm pipes

Designed in Japan by the brand Tsuge, the Thunderstorm collection is the opposite of traditional pipes. Tsuge Thunderstorm pipes indeed have a very interesting style. They are made with briar (a heatproof wood that does not change tobacco's taste) wrapped in metal (golden, black or silvery depending on the models). These pipes might look surprising if you are used to classic models. With this collection, Tsuge wanted to create a pipe that can be smoked when it is windy outside. The idea was therefore to design a folding screen to protect the top of the bowl and prevent the ashes from going out of the tobacco chamber. It would also help the tobacco not to burn too quickly. To do so, craftspeople created a movable part to protect the inside of the bowl. When it is windy, you can therefore slide the outer cladding upwards.
