A 9mm pipe with an unusual design:
The bowl of this Vauen Patina 240 pipe will be pleasant to hold in hand. The outside, of a blue/grey dull color, puts forward the larch wood, beautifully worked. The latter will allow a good grip, and it proposes a wonderful contrast with the inside of the bowl, made in briar of a lighter color. The two types of woods put side by side make the pipe look stronger. The bowl is indeed thicker thanks to this combination.
You will find, engraved on the side of the shank, the name of the famous brand that made this model: Vauen. This pipe can also be smoked with a 9mm filter, for a more pleasant smoke.
The subtle combination of larch wood and briar:
Most of the time used to make boats or house frames, larch wood has the specificity to be time resistant and rot-proof. Moreover, larch wood is a wood with an unmatched grain that naturally develops a patina over time. To create this look, Vauen has made a precise sandblasting and then applied a shade (of a blue color) via a special treatment. We can see an unparalleled association of textures and colors.
Because of the natural properties of larch wood, each piece will have a unique grain. The grooves of the wood will therefore slightly differ (and may be more profound and more spaced out) from one model to another.
Claire, La Pipe Rit
Then, craftspeople put a briar insert in the bowl and another one on the inside of the shank of the pipe. The Vauen Patina n°240 can therefore be smoked like any other pipe.
